Check Results

When a check is submitted, AssetBuddy evaluates the responses and calculates an overall result.

Overall results

ResultColourMeaning
PassGreenAll criteria met — the asset passed the inspection
FailRedOne or more critical criteria were not met
PartialYellowSome items passed and some failed (Rated scoring only)
Not CompletedGreyNo responses were recorded

How results are calculated

The overall result depends on the template's scoring model:

Pass/Fail scoring

The strictest model. Every response is evaluated, and if any single item fails, the entire check fails.

Rated scoring

The percentage of items that passed is calculated:

  • 100% passed → Pass
  • 0% passed → Fail
  • Between 1–99% → Partial

This gives a nuanced view of the asset's condition — a Partial result tells you there are issues but not a complete failure.

Checklist scoring

Only mandatory items count towards the result. Non-mandatory items are recorded but don't affect the outcome.

  • All mandatory items pass → Pass
  • Any mandatory item fails → Fail

What happens on failure

When a check result is Fail:

  1. Notifications are sent to H&S admins, site managers, and the asset owner (excluding the person who performed the check)
  2. If the template has auto-create defects enabled, a defect is raised automatically with:
    • The severity defined in the template's fail logic
    • A link back to the failed check
    • Status set to Open
  3. If the fail logic has force out of service on critical enabled and the defect severity is Critical, the asset is automatically set to Out of Service

Viewing check history

You can view all past checks for an asset from the asset detail page. The check history shows:

  • Date completed
  • Who performed it
  • Template used (and version)
  • Overall result
  • Individual responses

This provides a complete audit trail of every inspection performed on the asset.

Individual response results

Each response within a check is evaluated individually:

  • Pass/Fail items — "Pass" passes, "Fail" fails
  • Yes/No items — compared against the template's fail values
  • Number items — compared against minimum/maximum thresholds
  • Select items — compared against the template's fail values
  • Text and Photo items — always pass (informational only)
